A carriage marriage proposal
Romance blooms in Les Floralies
Nicholas Gaudet rides off with his new fiancé Caroline Levac after proposing to her outside her Les Floralies home.
VAUDREUIL-DORION — Old-fashioned romance bloomed in the quiet residential neighbourhood of Les Floralies last Friday morning.
It began with curious residents standing on their lawns wondering why a horse was being delivered to their neighbour’s home on the corner of Dahlias and Lupins. A few minutes later, an elegant carriage was also delivered.
Denise Gosselin who lives across the street, asked the man hooking the carriage up to the horse what was going on and he simply answered ‘marriage proposal.’
Five minutes later, a nervous-looking Nicholas Gaudet stepped into the carriage holding a bouquet of red roses. The driver drove him to 2809 rue Liserons, where his girlfriend Caroline Levac stood waiting outside in amazement. Gaudet stepped out of the carriage and, on one knee, proposed. To no one’s surprise, Caroline said “yes” and with tears streaming down her face, she added “well done.”
Together they got into the carriage and rode off while neighbours smiled and commented on the unique proposal — all except for one man who was overheard saying: “Great! This makes it harder for the rest of us!”
